Behavioural placement and Mind control in main stream TV

Wed, 14 Apr 2010

The American TV network NBC has admitted that they use "behavioral placement" to encourage viewer to adopt certain behavior in their popular feel-good and socially aware shows.

Behavioral placement is based on the theory that if "key" characters in such shows display certain types of behaviour, viewers are more likely to adopt them. "Behaviour placement"—is designed to impart subtle messages at both a conscious and subconscious levels to the viewers in order to modify their actions towards those seen in their favorite shows. The motivating factor for any broadcasting medium is to sell ads to marketers who wish to condition viewers to associate their brands with a feel-good, socially aware show or a particular message!

Exposure to fear, violence and anger on a daily basis in our daily TV dosage creates a whole range of reactions within us, including changes in our biochemistry, reinforcing certain neural network pathways in our brains and physical changes such as blood pressure and sweating.

"If we eat something poisonous, it is possible to remove it from our body through vomiting or taking antidotes. However, when poisonous message enters our mind, it is almost impossible to remove them" said Dav Panesar teacher and researcher of meditation practices. "Lack of awareness of this simple fact unwittingly places most of us in view of messages from those who may not have our interest at heart and are willingly poisoning our conscious and sub conscious minds with their own 'messages'".

Meditation helps us to become aware of our thoughts and associated feelings, as well as the reaction of these changes on our physical bodies.
